Mia Khalifa Wins Rs 15.92 Crore After Betting $1 Million on Spain’s 2026 World Cup Victory
Mia Khalifa is celebrating Spain’s 2026 FIFA World Cup triumph after reportedly placing a $1 million bet on the team to defeat Argentina in the final, with the winning wager returning nearly Rs 15.92 crore.
Following Spain’s 1-0 extra-time victory over Argentina, Khalifa shared a screenshot of her betting slip on social media showing that she had wagered around Rs 9.65 crore, equivalent to $1 million, on Spain.
“Believed and won big. So proud of my home country Spain, not a drop of Spanish blood in me,” Khalifa wrote in a post celebrating the result.
The reported payout of nearly Rs 15.92 crore included her original stake. Based on the figures cited in the report, her estimated net profit from the wager was around Rs 6.27 crore, although the exact amount could vary depending on the betting odds, platform fees, currency conversion and any applicable taxes.
The bet paid off after Spain secured its second men’s World Cup title by defeating defending champions Argentina 1-0 after extra time.
Barcelona forward Ferran Torres scored the decisive goal in the 106th minute after coming on as a substitute. The victory ended Argentina’s hopes of becoming the first team since Brazil in 1962 to win consecutive men’s World Cup titles.
Khalifa appeared to celebrate Spain’s victory from the stadium, sharing photographs of herself wearing a Spain jersey featuring the name of teenage star Lamine Yamal.
Her post also drew attention because of her humorous reference to her support for Spain despite acknowledging that she has no Spanish ancestry.
The reported size of the wager and the resulting payout quickly became a talking point online, adding a celebrity betting angle to a final that already attracted global attention.
The financial figures, however, should be viewed separately from the headline payout. While the total return was reportedly around Rs 15.92 crore, Khalifa’s original stake accounted for approximately Rs 9.65 crore of that amount. Her estimated profit was therefore about Rs 6.27 crore before any potential taxes or other deductions.
The report did not provide a confirmed calculation of any tax liability, and the actual amount that could be owed would depend on the relevant tax rules, her tax residency and the jurisdiction governing the betting transaction.
Spain’s victory also capped a successful tournament for a team that entered the final as European champions. Torres’ late strike secured the trophy in a tense match in which Argentina struggled to find an equaliser after falling behind in extra time.
For Khalifa, however, the final had an additional financial dimension. Her decision to back Spain with a reported $1 million stake turned into a multimillion-rupee return after Torres’ decisive goal, giving her another reason to celebrate the European side’s historic victory.
