Santa Elena resident charged after police find four rounds of 9mm ammunition

By Breaking Belize News Staff: Police have arrested and charged 37-year-old Simon Bateman of Santa Elena Town with keeping ammunition without a gun licence. Bateman’s arrest followed an intelligence-led operation conducted at his residence on Friday, July 17, 2026, as police searched for illegal firearms and ammunition. Police said a search of Bateman’s person resulted in the discovery of four live rounds of 9mm ammunition. Investigators determined that Bateman was not the holder of a gun license, and he was subsequently charged.
