When the Jailer Lied… Humanity Prevailed by Firas Al-Tirawi
In the cold, narrow cells of Israeli prisons—where time is compressed into pain and silence becomes a weapon—Palestinian prisoners wage invisible battles. These are not seen by the eye, but inscribed deep within the collective consciousness as chapters of resilience. From behind those bars, a prisoner from Gaza emerged—not to redefine victory as the fall of a wall or the loosening of shackles—but as the defeat of deception itself.Every morning in prison, the jailers repeated the same sentence to him:“We killed your entire family.”They said it not to break his body, but to crush his heart—to turn his love for his family into a tool of relentless psychological torture. The war waged against him wasn’t just against his freedom, but against his memory—against the images of his children that he clung to in the darkness. But when he was released and climbed the steps to his home in Gaza, something unimaginable happened:His wife was alive. His children ran into his arms. And the mother he thought was gone stood waiting for him, tears in her eyes.In that moment, the walls of lies collapsed. The jailer’s narrative fell apart. And humanity triumphed.⸻A War on ConsciousnessHuman rights reports consistently show that the Israeli occupation employs psychological torture as a systematic policy against detainees—what is referred to as the “breaking of consciousness.” This includes spreading false news about loved ones, death threats, and prolonged solitary confinement. But stories like that of the prisoner from Gaza prove that this war on awareness is far from balanced. A Palestinian’s belief in their rights—and in those they love—is stronger than any machinery of oppression.⸻Between Truth and PropagandaWhat happened to this prisoner is not a minor incident. It is a mirror reflecting the core of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict:A struggle between those who build power on falsehoods, and those who confront them with truth. Each time a Palestinian prisoner returns to the light, the fragility of the occupation is exposed—when faced with a human being who refuses to be broken.⸻In the End: The Jailer Lied, and Humanity WonIn Palestine, truth is not just a word—it is resistance. The love they tried to destroy behind bars returned to defeat them at the doorstep.⸻Firas Al-Tirawi is a Palestinian Arab writer and activist, and a member of the General Secretariat of the Arab Network for Culture, Opinion, and Media (Chicago).
Septembra 2020 godine.
jednostavan izbor i brz pristup.
kategorijski uredimo i prezentujemo korinicima kroz „Novi Internet
Concept“.
Nismo zadovoljni onim što smo uradili. To nas pokreće da nastavimo sa
usavršavanjem projekta.
