OL2 nuke plant to resume limited power generation in May
The Olkiluoto 2 (OL2) nuclear power plant unit is expected to resume electricity production on May 10, said the owner of the plant Teollisuuden Voima Oyj (TVO) in a press release on Thursday.
The rotor in generator of the plant will be replaced with a spare.
Electricity production at the Olkiluoto 2 plant unit (OL2) was interrupted on April 15, due to increased moisture detected in the turbine islands generator.
The estimate for resuming electricity production at OL2 is based on TVOs previous experience with rotor replacements. A similar situation occurred last autumn, when OL2s generator rotor failed, and the plant unit was operated for several months at reduced power following the rotor replacement.
The rotor now being installed is a refurbished spare part that arrived in Olkiluoto in April and is the last available rotor in TVOs inventory.
For this reason, the unit will continue to operate at a lower power level, based on conservative analyses to reduce the risk of failure.
After the rotor replacement, OL2 will produce electricity at a reduced output of 735 MW, compared to its full capacity of 890 MW. The power limitation will remain in effect until the 2026 annual outage.
The rotor replacement will be carried out before OL2s regular annual outage. The outage, lasting about three weeks, is scheduled to begin on May 25.
Olkiluoto 1 is producing electricity normally. Olkiluoto 3 is currently undergoing its scheduled annual outage.
The rotor of OL2's generator malfunctioned last autumn, and the unit has beenoperated at reduced power for several months to prevent further damage and due to a shortage of spare parts.
Earlier on April 12, theTVO announced that the Olkiluoto 2 (OL2) nuclear power plant unit will return to full power output of 890 megawatts on April 19.
Septembra 2020 godine.
jednostavan izbor i brz pristup.
kategorijski uredimo i prezentujemo korinicima kroz „Novi Internet
Concept“.
Nismo zadovoljni onim što smo uradili. To nas pokreće da nastavimo sa
usavršavanjem projekta.
